Morrison...more of the same
Yup, have to agree with you again Nayo - the Toni Morrison book is depressing. I have never read this one, but I just started the first chapter and it reminds me of her other ones--very dark, very...well awful. It seems she writes alot about bad things happening to children--I don't care for that subject matter at all--but to be true to the club I am going to stick with it and tough it out. Hopefully we can get some better reading on down the line. I still have to make my pick so maybe I will get us something fun and happy to read!

Bluest Eye???
I had to read this in college and I never read the whole book. I really didn't like the book. I am not a good critic of style etc but I really just didn't like the subject and the story line. It was very dark and depressing. I am sure the lives of the characters were hard, so I guess it was probably written well to make me feel the depressive state. But overall I just wasn't really a fan.
Is anyone else reading these books???? Just kidding. I got the March and April books so I can get them read on my next trip. Hope you are all doing well!

The next in line...
February's title is The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison.... and since I am a little slow on this right now, March's title is Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood....
Now about Great Expectations. I really enjoyed it. It is amazing how small the world is and how even today all our lives are interwoven, probably more than we even imagine. I would definitely recommend this book although most people probably read it when they were supposed to in High School...LOL.
On a side note... feel free to send the link to Denise. She can always add comments. If she wants to actually post then I just need her email to add to the contributors list!
Happy Reading!!

Exceeds Expectations
I agree Nayo. Great Expectations was really good. I couldn't put it down and I never read any of his stuff in H.S. because I thought it was going to be really dry. I want to read his other stuff too. Good pick -- even though someone I know was complaining that she had read it already. :) Hope all is well with you guys.
As a side note: I have been reading alot because of all of the travel I have been doing so just wanted to let you know that "Into The Wild" by Jon Krakauer was really good. It was interesting and something different--also based on a true story which is now a movie which is out now or soon to be out.

Great Expectations....
Well, I must admit so far I didn't really have high expectations for this book. I never read it when we were supposed to in High School and I was expecting old english etc... I have been pleasantly surprised. Granted I am only about 150 pages in but it is pretty good. It has actually created an interest in what some of Dickens' other novels have to offer. I am looking forward to what you guys have to say. You all should be able to make actual posts if you create an account and login. There should be a post button in the upper right corner and you should be able to make actual posts as well as comments on the posts I make.
